Pretty hairy here for about 10 minutes. I think the straight line winds were at least 50-60 mph but they died down quickly. A bunch of yahoos parked their cars under the hotel canopy and part of it blew off.

Lots of lightning and some power flashes.....the hotel where I am has power but the area around us is mostly dark now. Aside from some roofing materials lying around and some limbs, nothing major. If we had any hail, it was pretty small.

I can hear the Edmund sirens from here. Tornado SE of that area a few miles east of here....but past us. Hopefully that's not anything serious.

TWC just said low-lying winds are getting faster... which may actually help spur some tornado development

The low level jet increases at night as the Western Plains/Front Range cools. In this case, it is also being aided by the deepening low pressure lifting NE through Kansas. This helps increase the chances that you will see spin ups along the leading edge of the line of storms.

I'd take a tornado any day before a bow pushing 90 mph straight winds. That's gonna be devastating if over a decent sized area.

Wouldn't shock me. It was really bad for a about 10 minutes even though it calmed very quickly, and Will Rogers Airport is a bit south of me so they probably got it worse.

Lots of power lines down around OKC now.

Had storms like this in Memphis a few times when we were there. I don't miss them at all.

Insured losses from tornadoes are actually pretty low when compared to everything else. Hail is by far and away the leader. I'm not sure if high wind or flooding is second behind hail.

Ok, so I was wrong. Tornadoes are ahead of straight line winds:

Be careful. Probably isn't completely over yet. Hope it passes with no more damage.

Oh lovely. My roof is already damaged from the first round of hail. My siding is crap due to my SO's daughter's dogs.

And my peach tree is about to give birth to peaches!
