Rds , any concern about those two discrete cells south of De Soto tracking right into the heart of Dallas at rush hour?

whats funny? Im not worried about some 40 mph straight winds with a few strong gusts and you're just plum retarded if you are.

It's the primary threat, not the only threat. No one should be worried about a 40 mph wind, of course, but being aware that 75+ gusts are possible, along with tornadoes, is perfectly reasonable.

I think any cell in the open is going to have some concern today/tomorrow.

Not rds, but you should always be concerned with any discrete cells in a tornado watch area.

Dallas is a sitting duck that gets hammered every time we have this kind of weather. I’d be worried about getting leveled by tornado one day if I lived there.

That Garland tornado in 2015 was insane.

Lo and behold, Paris TX looks like it's going to be smack in the middle of the semi discrete cells in an hour or two.

Why are storms moving in a northeastern direction?

Latest short term models suggest shite goes downhill around 10 and the line makes it through by 2am ish.

This is the HRRR model at 11 PM. That's not great for NW LA if discrete cells hang round the leading edge of the front all night.

Are they likely to carve out a "moderate" risk area for LA for tomorrow? Do they usually wait until it's closer?

I wouldn't get hung up on the nuanced wording of moderate vs slight vs high vs marginal. Tornadoes can happen in any of these risk zones. If you go under a forecast potential the point is it behooves you to pay attention and take action. An F3 tornado that drops will rock your world regardless if you are in a slight, enhanced, moderate, etc...and there are no magical boundaries either.

When the time comes, look at small scale features, warning polygons, and take action...period.

Thundering outside and watching Tulsa weather and their storm chasers...Phone goes off “Winter Weather Advisory” as its 64 or so outside right now.

Two reasons really. Individual storms are riding around a low pressure system to their north, so much like a hurricane's bands that are to the south, the storms rotate around to the NE.

Secondly, they're riding the jet steam that is so their immediate west. You can see the cloud flow dip over Mexico, and that dip is what's pulling the moisture from the Guld of Mexico inland.

Also notice how the clouds to the west of the low are moving out of the north, just like the west side of a northern hemisphere hurricane moves out of the north (counterclockwise) .

Nasty nasty cell riding just in front of the front SW of Fort Worth is warned. May end up in the extreme southern burbs of Ft Worth. Heading for Iredell now and Walnut Springs next.
