I'm at work in Metairie, ironically we have to stay because there is a company wide safety meeting scheduled for today

Actually looks like it's going to get particularly rough in the Baton Rouge area and east towards the north shore.
Sun is starting to come out here and dew points rising. Growing more worried for Baton Rouge but definitely for the Florida Parishes.

Would Baton Rouge be considered part of the TORCON 8 or TORCON 5 area? Or should we just split the difference and consider us somewhere around a 6.5?
From what I'm reading, there should be a lot of energy over the Baton Rouge area and to the east towards Mobile.
Starting to look like a good thing that LSU canceled afternoon classes today. There could be rotation kind of west of New Orleans/south of Baton Rouge already.

Our office in BR is shutting down right now. So I get to go home to Hammond now which looks like it may receive the brunt of this

I don't see St Charles Parish on that list, if not then wow
Hopefully the kids/teachers/staff are all in a stairwell or other safe place till that cell moves by. I have a friend that teaches in Destrehan so I'll check to see whats going on.

Supposed to be flying out later tonight, not sure what the status is. Slightly optimistic bc I'm headed west and not NE.

Our office is closing in BR.
We are located in BR but our business is all over.
We didnt make people come in but they could for the last hurricane\TS we had about 2 years ago.

So how long is all this supposed to last? My son is at LSU now and planning to stay after classes let out at noon. I worry about him trying to drive home through the worst of it.

Maybe a good idea to stick around and study in the library until it passes. There is a high chance for tornadoes and severe weather in the area....but to hell with walking around a commuter lot in a hail storm.

Probably not a bad idea from what I'm seeing. Baton Rouge is on the western edge of where the worst of this is predicted...so it will be one of the first communities hit. The risk will move east afterwards.

He was going to be in a computer lab in one of the engineering buildings. Probably safer than our house!

I'd tell him to stay on campus. If it gets bad tell him to go to Coates basement.

How long is hard to say exactly, but it should be through here around rush hour if I were a betting man.
There will be a trailing squall line. Once that's through, things should be ok.
