Small thunderstorm cell just went through capital heights goodwood area of Baton Rouge knocked out power. Transformers blowing left and right. Easily 60mph winds. Almost seemed like a small tornado.

Standing outside my house in southdowns BR right now. It’s coming down, sky sounds angry
According to the radar it’s not over yet

Watson getting pummeled right now.

Jefferson Terrace sky was glowing green with transformers being taken out. I’m surprised there wasn’t a tornado judging by the sound of what just rolled through

The front edge of that line was nasty. My yard is destroyed in Prairieville.

Yeah that was impressive. The transformers on the BBT park were glowing like fireworks and the rain was hitting my windows sideways. Who knows what just blew through but we don’t have electricity now.

not even a fricking severe thunderstorm warning or anything and that line just walloped Baton Rouge, something hit my line and knocked me out of power, the line went through its reclose cycles and held out then the control center was like frick it let's try it again and closed it back and it actually held

and those discrete cells north of laplace are clearly showing rotation without tornado warnings, wtf is going on

That's been baffling. I'd just assumed the wind the radar was showing was not confirming. Obviously it is and our Livingston folks are going to be commenting soon.

I’m surprised the local news hasn’t cut to this yet. There is a lot going on watching my radar
In southdowns BR

Been getting whacked pretty hard in Central St Slammany tonight. Tornado warnings woke us up at about 2am and I haven't been to sleep since. Rain, hail, wind, you name it. This has been some pretty severe stuff rolling though the whole way.

I’ve gotten severe weather alerts for way, way, way, way less action than this. Nothing tonight.

Just woke up in St Amant to some strong arse winds and no power. See there's an active tornado warning close

WeatherBug is showing tornado warnings there

This lightning is unbelievable.

The rainfall rates all across from BR to Slidell are pretty incredible over such a wide swath
Posted on 4/10/21 at 4:31 am to Kay
Crazy. Part of my fence got knocked down with that line of storms in prairieville.
Posted on 4/10/21 at 4:31 am to sec13rowBBseat28
There might be another band coming through EBR. The lightning is non-stop
Posted on 4/10/21 at 4:33 am to Duke
yeah, relative velocity is showing 70mph, but that's a bit higher up due to 0.5deg radar angle, but it's clearly near the ground from my experience

I am always intrigued when someone uses terminology I don't understand. As a result of this, I now know what an ARC is, what it does and why it is important in the grid. What was most bizarre is just as I hit reply I got to witness the result of an ARC doing its job. I had to wait for my router to reboot to reply.
