re: Settle a drunken argument: Tyson vs Bruce Lee no holds barred KO match

Some of you are guzzling the Bruce Lee cool-aid. Bruce Lee was not a fighter! His street fight stories were likely just stories! I enjoyed his movies and his legend but I recognize it for what it is. Non contact karate does not train someone to fight in a full contact match, believe me. If you haven't been in the ring and taken punches you are going to crumble or turtle up and get thrashed when you get hit. I honestly believe Mike Tyson right now could beat Lee when he was in his prime. I am talking about a fat 50yr old Tyson that hasn't trained in years and I still believe he would destroy Lee when Lee was in his prime.

quote:agreed. So Cus Tyson knocked out washed up, has beens & Crazy Tyson got his arse whipped. But Lee's legend is exaggerated, lol. FTR, stout, you're the only Tyson guy here that's worth debating.
He did but he was also a basket case by that point and was out of shape compared to when Cus d'amato was still around as said earlier.

I've been trying to find this out the last 5 pages. Just expect a or a picture of him doing finger push ups
FWIW, this means he hits harder than most professional heavyweight boxers.
His friends also said he beat up 3 bouncers.

Tyson fricks lee up IRL.

In a ring... Tyson in less than a minute.
No holds barred though, Lee would rip out Tyson's eyeball or dislocate his knee before Tyson knew what happened.

No one can use Tyson losing to other heavy weight boxing professionals against him when Lee never had to do the same

You think Tyson, growing up poor in Brooklyn and also was arrested 38 times by 13 from fighting and shite, just forgot what he learned from being in those fights as a young boy?
This experience is one of the valid points made in Tyson's case. Lee wasn't going to scare Tyson win or lose. As far as everyone bring up size, I train in Krav Maga. I can point you to some women who stick it to men 180+. Many fighting systems can negate the size advantage.

No not at all, but being trained in a style of martial arts that includes all forms of fighting would give Lee an advantage.
Honestly I don't think there is a clear cut answer for the OP. I think if you had some way to simulate the fights, it could be 50/50 or out of 10 times Lee wins 6. I can't discredit Mike Tyson in his prime; his speed made him a physical freak of nature, but Lee was a physical freak of nature in both strength and speed and dedicated his entire early life to martial arts and conditioning, to the point where he developed his own style that, paraphrasing his own words, discarded the unnecessary shite from martial arts that left people open. But like Tyson supporters say, one good hook from Tyson and Lee would probably be sprawled on the ground, unconscious.

For the last time, is there video of Lee destroying another fighter like this?

I honestly believe Pac Man or Mayweather would annihilate Lee in or out of the ring. Lee was not a fighter!!!!

This is what it comes down to.
We can only guess at how badass Bruce Lee was in a fight. We never saw it. He never tested himself in martial arts tournaments.
We don't have to guess with Tyson. We saw him leave bodies in his wake. He was a monster. A heavyweight champion. A psychopath.
That's the difference for me.

A lot of the BL stories were propaganda out out by movie studios that obviously had a vested interest in creating this great undefeatable icon.
