I’m 45. I dig some of what I hear but overall it doesn’t appeal to me.
I like some of the stuff that crosses genres like Ghostface Killah. I like some of the classics like J Dilla, Rakim, NWA. Etc.

Yep. And only rap does this.

I don't understand. Can you post that in family circus format?

I'm old, so I have no idea what a "skit" is or how it differs from a "song". I just searched for Cardi B lyrics, copied and pasted the first one that popped up. I would challenge anyone to find one of her "songs" with any better lyrics. And yes, Nicki Manaj is just as bad. Who was that Australian white chick with the big arse that was everywhere about 5 years ago? She was equally repulsive.

IMO, a handful of rap songs are enjoyable in terms of lyrical creativity, rhythm, and musical content. But most lack one or all of those qualities.
The other problem is that most of the time you hear a rap song it's a crappy song being blared at ear splitting decibel levels.
It's definitely a less is more genre, but its proponents don't treat it as such.

I think the attitude of being threatened and angry at the fact that rap music merely exists is the phenomenon that I don't grasp. If you don't like it don't listen to it. It's weird that hating rap music is part of some sort of cultural identity for people.
There's also the absurdity of treating it as a monolith. It's like if you heard Nickelback on the radio and said because of that all rock music is garbage and Led Zeppelin is garbage. Cardi B is not Wu-tang Clan is not Run the Jewels is not Aesop Rock is not lil' Wayne. There's great music and artistry within the genre and there's garbage music within the genre just like everything else. I hesitate to use the term garbage music because if people enjoy it I don't give a shite. I'm not going to begrudge them that just like I'm not going to begrudge some dude pumping Florida Georgia Line. Other people's preferences are no threat to my own.

Here's an audio link. It's a recording of a "phone call" between her and her brother. Zero rapping or music.

Look, I'm not going to defend Cardi B. She sucks. It's like if I tried to pin a country fan down on Florida/Georgia Line lyrics.
There are far better, more lyrically talented rappers. Popular music on the whole today doesn't value lyricism or depth.

I guess all these Motley Crue, Van Halen, AC/DC listening guys don’t listen to the lyrics when they turn their music on...

Must never have heard of the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, NWA, and 2 Live Crew (to mention a small amount of just 80s rap).
They all sucked too.
Skid Row kicked arse.

For me it's 2 reasons.
1: Autotune
2: lyrics aimed at teenagers/mental cripples

The definition of a “choppa” has been defined as an AK, thanks to rap music.

The classic story rap from the 80s has some interesting contributions to beats and some impressive lyricsicm, a certain soul, but now even that is gone.
How did a culture go from this
To this
?
Black society went from a gradual process of assimilating to this current state.
Once again, LBJ’s great society rears its ugly head
Singlehanded the most vile piece of legislation ever visited on the US

I'm 30 and a big rap/hip hop fan. Rap is in a bad place right now. 90% of it is garbage and only made for clubs. For every J. Cole, there's 10 mumble rappers.

You somewhat have a point. At least the bands listed tended to use metaphors and veiled references to talk about sex. Most rap is very direct and overtly vulgar and misogynistic.

But it’s so blatant in some... go listen to Hot For Teacher then get back to me.

The new autotune pop country is just as bad as modern mumble rap. Music has been in a decline for a while.
