I am 50, rap became popular when I was in high school. I hated it them and I hate now. Now if you or anybody else wants to listen to it fine. But it still sounds like shite and isn’t even music IMO.

I don’t care what color the rapper is. I still hate rap.

BTW, since you seem to think black people can only make rap, here’s a video to show you what true musical genius actually is. If you can listen to this man perform without the hair on the back of your neck stand up, you need to check your pulse.

LINK

BTW, the guy who introduced him, he’s another musical legend. And as a lily white dude I’m proud as hell to tell you he came from right here in my home state of Alabama. His name is Lionel Richie.

Can't one have nothing against black people because of their skin color but abhor thuggery/thuggish behavior? How is that racist?

I saw a Marilyn Manson interview where he commented that technically rap doesn't meet the requirements to be labeled as music. Now I don't know any of his music but I agree with his assertion about rap.

Oh, and rap sucks....

This is pretty accurate. I'm 48, and was in my late teens when it hit big. It seems like people a few years older than me really don't like it at all.

I like a lot of rap and hip hop, just not what they play on the radio now, unless it's KLSU. I remember I didn't really like NWA and a lot of rap when it first came out, but now I listen to it all the time, interspersed with all the other stuff I listen to.

There will always be racism as long as people like you cry racism at everyone that disagrees with you.

It's make believe racism. I guarantee you that most people in this thread that don't like rap have black artists they like.

because 50, 100 hundred years from now, none of it will be memorable or redeeming; CLASSIC.

I do not cry racism at every little thing. I merely pointed out the dog whistling in this thread and America in general regarding rap music.

Like I said earlier, it’s fine to not like certain music but to go out of your way to constantly shite on rap music makes it look like dog whistling.

There is plenty of music and other pop culture that I do not care for but I just don’t consume it or think about it.

Rap music just triggers the frick out of some people and it appears it’s code language for their racism (even if they don’t think of themselves as racists. Most people don’t.).

A term I’m not yet familiar with for race baiters to use to label me as racist.
