Because it’s for the immature and mentally challenged.

I am middle age and white and I never hear that stuff...ever. No one I know listens to that..even if only to play it jokingly.

Only time I can say I heard old rap was when the NWA movie came out.

This thread is getting hate but music is simply enjoyment and if younger people enjoy listening to it you can’t fault them for having a different opinion than old people

Serious answer: some of it isn’t that bad, especially stuff from the 80s and part of the 90s, but once “hardcore gangster” rap took over it all went to shite.

This. Old school rap was fun and inventive. It told stories. The shite they have now is curse words set to a base line. In addition its corrupted every other form of music. You can't ignore it because its seeped into other genres. The first country song with a rap break was innovative. The 500th is derivative.

I have to agree that I don't consider it to be music. I'm over 50. It doesn't drive me bonkers to hear it, but I couldn't be subjected to it for long.

While I don't really enjoy all newer forms of music, I do enjoy some and consider them to be music even if I don't like it. However, I can't see how rap can be considered to be music.

Let’s call a spade a spade. Most people, especially white people, that hate rap with a passion are racists and use the hatred of rap music as a veil for said racism.

If these were clean cut white boys from the suburbs y’all would not hate it so much.

Some of y’all just need to accept you are racists and don’t like brown and black people. It’s plainly obvious to the rest of us. You aren’t subtle about it.

Agreed. I used to love rap but don’t relate any more and don’t like it. Just can’t get into it anymore. More into rock/metal/singer songwriter stuff now.

But I’m not the target audience for rap so no surprise that I’m not a fan.

Agree with this...ever notice every time any one of these guys in the hood get killed, he was "an inspiring rapper"!

That is just objectively not true. You may not like rap music but it does take talent to write verses and hooks and create beats.

There is good and bad music in every genre. This “rap isn’t music” is just yet another shitty, tired OT groupthink meme.

It’s sad.

No shite. I love Darius Rucker, Trombone Shorty, Miles Davis, Prince etc. But it's definitely about color and I'm a racist
