That's what I was asking... One day I may be moving up that way and had a feeling its [safer] than most places in the country...

Young people have great "race relations".. so much so that's not even a real fricking thing to the under 30 crowd in this country.

For 40-70 year old white males..well, that's a different story.

It's not doomed for sane people. It's not even a dream for sane people. Just treat people like you want them to treat you and use common sense.

Weird, it's the 20 somethings that are falling apart over perceived "microaggressions"

We had moved past this shite years ago.

It seems like the racial diversity experiment worldwide has failed. Racial tensions are at their worse. Races in America and other countries are self segregating, even promoting the separate but equal mindset.

Do countries that have low racial diversity have less problems?

Jesus Christ. Maybe Mizzou does fit in with the SEC.

I don't know about that. I'm seeing more and more mixed race couples and children. I married an Asian; my friends married Hispanic, black, Asian, and all our kids are mixed race.

Probably homogenous countries have more social harmony and less social strife for obvious reasons.

At the same time, they lack the "dynamism"–-call it creative chaos--of multicultural countries. Think of the contributions the various ethnic groups in this country have made to art, entrepreneurship, medicine, technology and the like. You don't find anything like the magnitude of our innovation and creative thinking in places like Japan or China.

I believe our racial, cultural diversity is both a challenge and a blessing. I'm comfortable with that, although I understand why many in our society are not.

My freshman year of high school started in the Fall of 93 and I graduated in 97. By time I was a senior it seemed as if more whites and blacks, who were friends, were not just friends during school hours. There was still the crowds from both races that didn't want anything to do with the other race, but if someone is a good person whatever skin color they were born with shouldn't dictate how you interact with them.

I think it comes down to respect. It doesn't matter what color people are, people will treat you with the same respect you treat them.

Yes but a lot of this depends on location... I went to HS in a small town in Michigan that had like 5-6 black families in the whole town of about 35,000. The black kids that went to school with me were good friends of mine the whole time.My town was just 20 mis from a town that had almost 60% blacks, and about 40 miles from Flint which has even a higher % of blacks.... I can get along with anybody..White , black, green, yellow.... Like I said location means a lot....

My experience was pretty similar but there was definitely tension between certain "cliques," if you will.

For the most part it was caused by blacks feeling insecure.

Specifically, how?

Constantly? Specifically, how?

Every single one? Name the very few where that happaned?

but not a single one where a white guy gets shot by a black guy.

Not a single one? You sure?
