Cops hunting a serial rapist in Georgia found him right under their noses — when he tried to join their police force.
Kenneth Thomas Bowen III, 24, only came into the spotlight when he joined the Clayton County Police Department’s academy in 2018. He was fired after just a few months for lateness and constant lying.
Officers later realized Bowen had been named a “suspicious” person after at least one of eight sex attacks that terrorized Jonesboro since 2015, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Detectives soon noticed the “striking resemblance” between Bowen’s photo and police sketches, police said at a press conference.
After also linking Bowen’s tattoos to the suspect’s description, officers obtained a search warrant for his DNA, which linked him to the eight attacks, police said last week.
“Had he not attempted to join ranks in the Clayton County Police Department, it is questionable as to when we would have apprehended him,” Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Roberts said, according to the AJC.

So he actually did join.

Jonesboro
There are at least three Jonesboros in southern states. Who was this Jones who left his name lying around everywhere?

Plain sight didn't work out

I guess the old saying "the closer you are to your enemy, the farther you are from harm" doesn't apply when the enemy has your picture.

So, like what was his goal here? Was he trying to gain retribution for all of his terrible crimes or something

So if he didn't lie and was always on time, he would be a police?

Sounds like something out of Mindhunters

Easy access to victims

They knew there was a problem when he said his qualifications were rape, murder, arson, and rape.

You would think they might run someone's DNA and fingerprints through a couple of databases before starting their training.

To be honest, that probably got him fast-tracked.
