It doesn't matter how many people take the side of the truth. It's still the truth. This woman would win her lawsuit. Easily.

Apparently I was not familiar with WTF's body of work.

Did not realize I was playing word games with a stroke victim.

should her life be destroyed bc of a word?

I mean her life being destroyed will matter on the company she keeps and the population creating economic opportunities in her area.

If people are largely racist in her area, she'll be fine.

If people in her area don't want to be associated with racists, then she may have issues.

I'm a big believer in freedom of association and the choices that go into that individual calculus.

In reality, she would likely be sanctioned for this frivolous lawsuit. Bigly.

"should" has nothing to do with it. she sent a very bad text to the wrong person and went viral. that's the world we live in now.

I was just really worried about all the people she hurt by texting that word, it’s a shame

She should’ve used the word bitch, frick, or even twat - bc although those are inappropriate- they don’t destroy lives - unless used in certain instances

I never said it did, but all her dumbass did by texting the wrong person was revealing that she was a trashy person. If she wasn’t a trashy idiot then she would never even think of texting anyone that and she wouldn’t get fired

Actions have consequences and being racist has its consequences. Don’t try to justify her shitty actions

Agreed.

Only trashy people use that word or any variation of it.

That has nothing to do with it.

People do stuff that hurts nobody and I don't want to be associated with them.

What lawsuit are we hypothesizing about - wrongful termination?

What they come after him for is what matters.

Actual racism? meh

The problem is that so many people in this thread are thinking emotionally that they've obsfucated the larger discussion, making all sorts of inane "arguments" to try to justify a focus on an irrelevant part (the hypocrisy of using the N-word in 2023 America)

Hes' too stupid to see that his argument is racist to the core.

The idea that white people should refrain from using the N word while black people continue to get away with it is NOT racist. It is RACIAL.

Those are different things, and things would be better if we collectively understood that.

Also, 2005 called and wants its “Democrats are the real racists” line back.

Call a male stranger a bitch and he’ll possibly take a swing at you. Call your wife a bitch and you’re probably sleeping on the couch. If your wife calls her friend a bitch it could be in an insulting or endearing way. It’s all the same word and meaning, but the context drives whether or not it’s insulting.

The same thing can be said of the n-word. It’s not that complicated.

ETA - this argument that either everyone can say it or no one can say it is a dumb standard that doesn’t apply to any other word. That’s my point.

Very interesting you chose an example that doesn't use race as a context. Its' not really that interesting as you know that's bullshite, but whatever. Using the logic for your example, I should be able to call my black friend an n word since we're friends. I'd try it, but I don't feel like ending up on the news.
