Obama has ruined this country though.

He's done nothing for race relations.

I'm just listing all the usual arguments made by the usual Nola defenders.

Lol, it ain't Mexican construction workers murdering everybody no matter what Trump wants to claim.

No, they're more into stealing cars and DUIs. (I reference the not too distant past in Baton Rouge where a friend's daughter (Walk On's bartender) suffered a serious car accident on Nicholson when hit by a drunk Mexican in a stolen car.)

It's not that the crime is bad- it is. It's the apathy on the part of the civic leaders, the police, and the black community (who is the most common victim) of the crime. I'm sure they all feel they are doing their part, but to the rest of the world, it doesn't appear so. Like other urban crime areas, it seems to be accepted by many in NOLA.

White people won't care if the blacks just kill themselves.

It's always been that way. When they go in the garden district and start shooting each other, then they pay attention.

And the crime seems more spread out than it used to be in the 90s. I don't recall a lot of crime in the FQ back then. I don't recall the numerous armed robberies we hear about daily now. I do recall the numerous shootings which were primarily in the projects.

Anytime they pay attention, they're told it's their fault, or it's none of their attention.

It's a no win situation

Exactly, there's a ton of research that has found lower crime associated with immigrants.

Now, now...just because they aren't the tallest ethnic race around doesn't mean you have to throw that at them as well...

How the hell does Sean Payton, who paid bonuses for crippling opposing players, have any credibility to talk about violence?

Truthfully, does anyone really give a damn what Sean Payton has to say about anything other than the NFL?

And I don't really even care to hear what he has to say about football.

The inner city black culture is broken, not the whole city of New Orleans. The entire county is reaping what was sowed in the 1970's with the war on poverty that started the decline of the black nuclear family. This along with a culture that has evolved to glorify violence. A lot of these young, fatherless males grow up being taught by peers that if you're disrespected and you don't respond then you're a b!tch and your whole community is gonna know about it and treat you like a punk... A lot of them would rather live life in jail then live in a community that does not respect them as a man. Its the whole community's fault for fostering such an environment. No white kid would be labeled a social pariah if he was bullied and didn't respond in kind. Just the opposite, they would actually feel sorry for the kid and stand up for him.
