Its pretty much the same reason why throwing a heated athlete in the cold showers is a thing. Sometimes people get so irate that the only way to check their emotions is to startle them back to reality. Lets be honest, we all have acted in a way that we have regretted, which probably would have been avoided if only someone slapped the shite out of us at the right time.

He's right you know

I like his movies, but he comes across as a douchebag in that interview. He says it's okay to slap an argumentative woman who just won't shut up.

If you've never seen The Man Who Would Be King, with Connery and Caine, you should watch it. It's based on a great Rudyard Kipling book that is also very good.

A chick I was breaking up with (deservedly) slapped the shite out of me as I was moving my stuff out of our condo back in sophomore year. If I had done that, I’d have gone to jail.
