It absolutely is a physical problem when talking about the more severe cases. That isn’t up for debate. That doesn’t mean the things you mentioned at the top of your post can’t be part or shouldn’t be part of the solution.

but why? Why go to the doctor and not the church?
Maybe because the priest can't do a Whipple, thoracic aortic dissection repair, or treat a non-functioning thyroid.
Despite a few that claim it no single person is a mind, body, and soul repair expert. I don't call a plumber when my fence needs fixing or an electrician when I have a hole in my roof.

The medical institution you're describing there is basically that of a medicine man of indigenous cultures.

I think you're romanticizing indigenous life, Gaggle, and instead of thinking of ways our institutions could be improved, it makes you feel better to denounce them.

They're not allowed to consider God, church, spirituality, faith, community, self improvement in their research whatsoever. Doctors are highly refrained from considering those things even if they want to. The research was done by companies who want it to be a physical problem to be treated by money making drugs, and doctors are trained to treat everything as a local physical problem to be attacked. It's an extremely harmful system to our people top to bottom. The entire approach is wrong.
try to research the effects of god, church, and spirituality etc. its impossible to create a valid research project with such intangibles.
also most docs dont want to rx psych meds, they acquiesce to a person suffering in front of them and asking for help. most docs arent getting kickbacks for # of meds rxd especially in the psych dept.
your entire concept of doctors is so misinformed.

its no wonder your opinions are so dogshit ITT

Indigenous societies still exist. Average lifespans are short. You can actually go there and visit them.

I do entirely reject a narrative that we were once primitive and diseased and stupid and life was much worse and now we are more advanced. There is a vested interest in promoting the idea that things are better than ever but it is not the truth.
things are objectively and measurably better

that doesnt mean things are perfect or anywhere close, but to think we arent any better off is just lunacy

intangibles are required in every study to be valid. What is the placebo effect
that is tangible or measurable.

thats why you measure controls, placebo, and the therapy...

I know. I talked about it earlier. This is a terrible awful thing. Why don't doctors change it?
because there is data that it helps and people are more likely to engage in their personal behavioral adjustments if their symptoms are improved.

because there is data that it helps
There's also a shite ton of data that there is more mental disease, violence, unhappiness, and that they aren't very effective.
