her month-to-month
This is where I am confused. If the lease is month to month, then why wouldn't the landlord be able to renegotiate the terms of the lease with the tenant at the end of any given month?

Wow. You make telling a 102 year-old that she must move out of her home sound like a GOOD thing.
She lived there for 30 freaking years. Since she was 72ish. I mean at one point do you move someone out?
We have no idea what all was discussed also.

He likely did. This lady wasn't evicted. She lived there 30 years. I highly doubt this was a huge surprise. She was given a 3 month notice that her month to month lease was ending. End of story.

My greater point if why couldn't the landlord incrementally increase the rent over time to more closely match area averages

You don't do that to a 102 year old person. The stress of the move could kill her. POS landlord, I'm glad Arnold is going to help her out.

A GoFundMe would easily take care of this situation.

She has lived there for 30 years.
You could say the same for a 82 year old and a 92 year old. Certainly same as a 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, etc.
We should probably just make laws where anyone over 80 can’t sign a lease outside of a nursing home. Because you are right, we shouldn’t allow a landlord to not re new their lease it may kill them.

If only the death camps were real.

What’s impressive is she is 102 and not in any type of assisted living. Tough ol bird there

No joke. We’re already paying SS to allow old folks the luxury of retirement and unassisted living if they so please. Why exactly do landlords owe them even more charity on top of that?
As was stated earlier, we don’t know enough about the situation. I feel certain the landlord tried to negotiate some rate increase or other route before simply terminating the lease.
Don’t like it? Maybe get your kids to chip in on rent, buy a place of your own, or get a roommate to split the increased rent with. There are no free meals in life.

Yeah I bet she's living high on the hog on that $600 to $800 a month of SS.

Tell that to the daughter of the landlord. Just graduated law school and has to move into Daddies rent house. No problem sweetie, will just kick out the 102 year old living there.

Her lease has been terminated.

Yes, fool. She was evicted.
Definition of word, "evict"
expel (someone) from a property, especially with the support of the law.

Arnold S. Is a SJW who talks alot of crap...just to get exposure--then returns to his gated community--with the wall around it. And does nothing but read his name in the newspaper, and count his...untaxed money...

Give them an inch, they will take a mile. Not the tenants I'm talking about either. It's the ones running this story.

No she wasn’t evicted. Where was the law used? Her lease wasn’t renewed, which is a civil issue. She hasn’t been evicted yet. If she refuses to move after her 90 day notice then she may be, you are correct.
So because someone is old, they don’t have to pay their bills now? May someone explain when this starts? Like I said we could be saying the same about a 92 year old. So she should live there rent free and without consequences for 10+ years?
How do you guys know that she wasn’t offered a very fair rent increase and simply can’t afford it?
Again, the family member moving in has 0 to do with anything in this story.

That’s more than the $0 a month that people got for thousands of years. Back then they just had to get rich enough to take care of themselves or move in with family/friends.

If you ever borrowed money or favors from your dad you would know that those can be as bad as owing the mafia. Which is fine, in a way. It serves to make kids as independent as possible.
But even if he wasn’t charging her rent: you’re saying he doesn’t have a right to support his child over some random unrelated tenant? GFY. It’s his property to do with as he pleases. If he wanted to evict every single tenant only so he could burn that bitch to the ground and roast marshmallows that’s his right. Buy your own place if you want a say in how it’s run.

Landlord is well within his rights to not renew
Landlord is also a piece of crap (provided she has been paying her lease on time for 30 years)
