Schools are out of control-WWTOTD?

A friend's son got into a little trouble at school in the past week. His 6th grade class was having a discussion on transitive verbs.
The teacher called on little JC and asked him what the word transitive reminded him of.
He answered, "transgender". The teacher scolded him, sent him to the principal's office and he now has to write a three page essay explaining why transgender is offensive.
His mom asked me what I would do in this situation. I told her to go to the school and say that a close relative is trans and that is why he knew about it. She should also ask the teacher to apologize to her son for making him think his relative's life choice is offensive.
What would the OT do in this situation?

Sounds like the kid has a good sense of humor.
Just apologize and get past it.

I would act super triggered if I were JC.

Sounds like little JC needs to just PIIHTB and be done with it. I am sure the teacher will enjoy it.

I don't have kids so maybe I am talking out of my arse. I'd be all over their arse for doing that to my kid. If he wasn't using the word in an offensive way then he did nothing wrong. At worse, the teacher should have talked to the kid afterwards on how to use that word properly.

Bang the teacher if they are female, it's the responsible thing to do.

Probably wipe my butt on 3 pieces of paper after a nice morning constitutional and hand deliver to the teacher.

The best advice you're likely to get in this thread.
Your kid probably is fully aware and accepts that being a smartass has its occasional price.

The best thing to do is teach the kid sometimes you have to be the bigger person, but maybe if the kid reached out to the teacher one on one and sincerely apologize or some shite maybe the teacher will back off.

Wait. This is no longer the proper term? "Transgender" is no longer PC? I'm so confused.

If that's your definition of "out of control," you've got a problem connecting to reality.

That's what I was trying to figure out.
So, what's the new word?
