Some Pascagoula High School seniors and their parents are enraged this week after receiving the senior class T-shirts that featured the cold and dismissive phrase, “Bye, Felicia,” along with the names of three seniors who died this year.

quote:

By Friday morning, parents and students had taken to Facebook to express their outrage over the use of the phrase on a senior class T-shirt that also memorializes deceased seniors Blayze M. Broadus, Jonathan McCommon and Matthew Russell Parker. Broadus and McCommon died in a car accident.

quote:

The phrase “Bye, Felicia,” was first used by the rapper Ice Cube in the 1999 film, “Friday,” and is meant as a cold and dismissive way to bid someone farewell.

Members of the Pascagoula High School administration and other staff along with a few seniors designed the shirts.

I'm not one to get wound up over things, but that's pretty thoughtless.

I know the intent was for the phrase to apply to the school, but adding the deceased names to the shirt was idiotic

Not very tasteful. Should have gone with, “Well, Bye”.

Friday came out in 1995.

Well that’s good and trashy.

I’d also want the arse of the adult who approved that shite too.

I’m totally against people being offended for no reason that’s apparent to me. But this one is apparent and good on the people calling them out

Was it just the three students? That would be in extremely poor taste.

Or was it the names of all seniors and they included the three who died? That would make sense.

Look, I'm not one to get easily offended, but literally mocking teenage tragedy?

frick that. The type of kid that laughs at classmates dying is on the straight and narrow path to hurting others.

Holy crap. The snowflake-age is absurd.

Good lord! Yea, that's legitimately a funny but awful senior shirt idea.
