One person has died and another hospitalized after a crash with a school bus in Baton Rouge, according to a report from WBRZ.
The crash occurred on Airline Highway and McClelland Drive about 7:30 a.m. and the bus caught flames after the crash. All the students on the bus exited safely, the report said.

There are a shitload of careless bus drivers in this area. I witnessed one about a week or so ago on Fla Blvd. She was going across Florida from Monterrey. Apparently she was trying to beat a yellow light in her direction but she came flying across and by the time she got to the eastbound lanes of Florida, I already had a green light (I was travelling EB). She made the left turn onto the EB service road going pretty damn fast. The bus leaned over and I really thought it was going to flip on it's side.

The other vehicle could be at fault though

Do school buses have seatbelts yet? If not it's amazing we dont hear about kids getting killed in these events more often

Looking at that picture, how does that even happen in the turn lane at a red light? It’s like the car didn’t see the bus.

Had to have been texting to go straight in like that.

No skid marks on the pavement.

I suppose if the bus wasn’t there they were going straight through the intersection.

I'm wondering if a student was driving the car.
Article was updated saying there were TWO people in the sedan. The other person is in the hospital

Maybe the car thought the bus was going to try to make the light and st the last second the bus decided to stop? I don’t know.

The bus would stop alot slower than the car if that was the case and there should definitely be skid marks if the bus didn't that IMO.

In the accident today, yes, possibly. What I saw didn't involve any other vehicles. Just a crazy bus driver.

One dead and a baby transported. Sounds like that baby lost it’s parent today.

Sad. Everyone will be at fault in an accident at some point. The parent could've turned around to check the baby for a split second.

I think the main reason is that you could never expect a bus driver to be able to get 50 kids off of the bus in the event of an emergency in which a couple kids are incapacitated. This is especially true for smaller children. Most of the bus drivers I see (not all) would have trouble unbuckling themselves in an emergency lesson.
