The top prosecutor in Waller County says police mishandled the investigation into a teenager who ran over six bicyclists after harassing several others Sept. 25, and who was let go from the scene without so much as a ticket.

The Waller Police Department refused to treat the crash site as a crime scene, according to Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis. At the scene, troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety also urged Waller police officers to consult with the district attorney's office before letting the 16-year-old go, but they declined to reach out. Instead, Mathis said, he found out about the crash on social media.

The police chief admits it was mishandled, but says it wasn't due to the family's influence.

quote:

"That is true. The scene was not managed in a manner that is acceptable to me," Llewellyn admitted in response to Mathis' accusations that the scene was mishandled. "However, none of the deficiencies that have been identified were due to poor policy or procedure within the department, nor were they influenced by who was involved in the crash or any other personal associations."

No matter the influence anyone has, I cannot see how you let a guy that just ran over 6 people leave the scene without passing through the station.

They didn't even take statements and shite. They treated it like a traffic offense.

I think they give most traffic offenses more investigation. They at least issue citations for those.

Bicyclists in groups are often complete pricks and very frequently ignore common sense and the law. But that's not what happened here.

This case infuriates the hell out of me. This little shite in the truck was trying to scare those bicyclists and ended up running over some of them.....and he doesn't even get a ticket?

quote:

The 16-year-old driver was using his Ford Super Duty pickup to "roll coal" on the group of cyclists as they trekked along Old Highway 290 in Waller. Instead, he ran them over. The cyclists' injuries range from fractures and soft tissue injuries to traumatic brain injury.

Waller County should be embarrassed by this.

From a different article about this but my favorite line of everything I've read about this
quote:

The teenager’s lawyer, Rick DeToto, described his client as “a young man in high school with college aspirations”

We have a word for this.

If you look on the dashboard of the truck, there are about 8 fluorescent colored trucker hats stacked. I assume they're all flatbill and him and his dad share them.

He had his fresh white flatbill on to go mow down some bike riders.

He's also got his hand up, probably wiping tears because he was crying like a bitch from what my buddies told me.
