Young people would have to take a class that costs $100 and would receive a certificate allowing them to legally drink in Louisiana.
Who’s gonna teach these classes? It’s not like the state is full of teetotalers.

I bet it’s the same class DUI people have to take.

Not everyone gets an MIP. Everyone turns 19

You’ve always said or the law always said?

Only in LA would you have to be licensed to drink

So he believe 18 year-olds should be able to drink, but the bill he's proposing still won't allow 18-year olds to drink?
i do'nt know what his reasonings are behind having to be 19, but i like 19 being the drinking age.
18 year olds are still in high school.

That’s not true. If you were 18 before the law changed you were grandfathered in.
yeah...no. I damn sure couldn't buy anymore and I was 18 when the law changed

I can see them creating a provision saying that your drinking license has to be on you at all times while drinking, even though it could be attached as an endorsement on your license, and if you don't have it on you, you'll be fined.

Ricky and his buddies probably helped create that legislation.

Was it the 80s or 90s? I could drink when I was 18 in 95, but then the law changed to 21 and I couldn't.
It was changed for good in 1996. I was legal to drink for about 1 month.

That’s exactly the reasoning. It takes the stigma off of it. People can’t say oh lord you want to let high schoolers drink.
