saw a kid in a wheelchair at the gym this morning

Early 20's probably. Working out with light weights but still getting it done. Kind of got me in the feels. I thought about shaking his hand and telling him I admired him but didn't know how to broach the subject.

You should offer to pay his gym membership. Tell him hey man I feel bad for you because you’re in a wheel chair so I’m gonna buy your gym membership for you.

OMG! Someone in a wheelchair was doing normal shite..
While people mean well, there is no reason to go make a big deal about it. More than likely, to him, it's normal. He probably doesn't want someone to single him out just because you wouldn't expect someone like him to be doing what he was doing.
If he was paralyzed from his waist down, he would still have all of his upper body strength. I hope he isn't the type to think that doing light weights is good enough because, as for as he is concerned, he already went beyond expectations. That type of thinking will limit him.
