Sasol North America Large move

Apparently, Not even the heaviest move that Sasol in Lake Charles has made.

Props to them for doing this after hours. BR would have done this at 4pm on a Friday before gameday

It's a 319' Washer Tower

I don't know the process, so I don't know what it does.

Just for perspective, this building in downtown Baton Rouge is 310' tall.

And the Marriot is about 100 shorter than that.

Looks like a Caustic tower to me. In an Ethylene unit, the caustic tower scrubs the CO out of the cracked gas before it goes on to the Cold (Frac) part of the unit. CO is a poison to the ethylene process.

It will be in the perspective of Lake Charles Skyline for a long time.

This is no where close to downtown.

If you're heading west over the bridge, then adding this tower will do nothing to the view considering it's been the same for 50 years

I think it's a C2 splitter. Overhead piping on a caustic tower for a plant that size would be 60"+. Either way, always neat to watch them move the big stuff.

Where did they make it? Where did the tower come from?
