Deserved to get whacked ... or not?
I'm thinking it changed when he started acting like an agent.
The food poisoning thing - we've all had those kinda feverish drug induced sights, or otherwise, before taking someone out (one way or the other), amirite?

Makes you realize how incompetent the entire organization was…it was obvious and took ridiculous amounts of time to figure it out.

It's obvious when you're the viewer and you can see both sides being played out. When you look at it only from Tony's point of view, it's not obvious at all.
