Is that some storms starting to wrap around the low level center of circulation?

3-D look at the storms ringing the eastern edge of #Sally's low-level circulation reveals very tall clouds up to 50,000 feet.

This is another sign, when combined with satellite cloud tops dipping below -70C, that thunderstorm activity in this area is quite robust.

Note that this marks a change from earlier today when any convection near the center was quite shallow and all the deep convection was displaced well SE of the center.

#Sally is organizing steadily this evening.

TBF there wasn't much rain and wind with Katrina compared to this one in NOLA.

Not much rain is correct but the wind was fierce and did a ton of damage in the CBD. We had to replace 80% of the windows in two of our office buildings we owned downtown at the time. I remember shards of glass being embedded in the plaster walls on the top two floors on one building like chinese throwing stars.

I was planning on staying on Grand Isle until Monday but I guess I’m going to leave tomorrow afternoon. I’m sending the wife and kids off right after lunch tomorrow

I’m going to wait it out and see what happens. My plan was to stay on the isle and watch the game with some friends and roll out Monday morning. This caught us off guard especially now that I need to get home and secure my shite if it keeps heading to Nola.

I’ll give you a shout tomorrow afternoon

Translation for those that struggle reading weather type stuff:

What is the upper end potential for a storm in the Gulf right now?
