Eh, strong cat 2 and gulf shores 30-40 miles east of eye. Power outages but probably not widespread shite, particularly for the highrises which are built to survive most anything

John at the Slippa just posted their contingency plans on FB for dungeness crab night amidst these uncertain times and the non imminent threat of Sally.
Better get there before they’re gone. Not the crab, the Slippa.

NHC needs to remove a bunch of Louisiana from the hurricane warning.

Whoever said Mobile earlier should be our new expert. Cause these fools on the news just guess. How can you be 150 miles off.

Wow
Any chance this hits cat 3?
I always thought that the closer it gets to shore, the less likely it intensifies.

Nola not completely out of the woods yet but holy shite if this city had to deal with a cat 2 direct hit right now.

Can probably expect they drop the hurricane warning to morgan city. Will probably go no farther west than grand isle

For storm surge. Not for winds. The strongest winds are in a narrow band right in the eye wall.

Why are they allowed to shift the cone so much?

They've probably wanted to move it for 12 hours but they look for trends so they aren't moving it back and forth 45 times

New Orleans is out of the woods.
Posted on 9/14/20 at 3:55 pm to DhanTigers212
Latest rainfall projection for New Orleans is down to 1-4 inches.

That's a good question I've always said they need to revise how they do the cones. It definitely has to be confusing for the general public even.
People these days definitely don't read so you know they skip right over when it says "don't pay attention to the cone if you're in it or not as the conditions are widespread and can get worse".

I wouldn’t quite count out some fairly widespread power outages from a strong cat 2, depending how far out the hurricane force winds extend.
