Salamoni's tactics are grounds for removal from the force. Period.

I know some time has passed, but don’t forget that this event put in motion the circumstances that caused (I believe) 8 police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge to lose their lives. AS was not the only one to lose his life as a result of this encounter.
Even more reason to say frick Alton Sterling. That was his fault too.

Sad to say I agree as well. Bad look for BRPD

I feel bad that Salamoni was fired, because I believe he did what he thought was right. Arriving at the scene, backing up an officer on a man that was suspected of brandishing a firearm.
It's a quick decision, but I think Salamoni could have used better judgement.

I was being sarcastic about the thug. You are correct as the saddest part is 8 LEO heros lost their lives all because of that thug, Elvin Sterrin.

I'm not an aapologist but just use a tad bit of common sense and remove emotion. It's been known forever that this entire thing was caused by a bum who called the cops. People are constantly bitching about homelands people begging at stores and intersections all over town. Sterling was just stopping the due from bothering people. If he was that violent and crazy wouldn't he have just shot the homeless man on the spot ? He was shoooing him away like a stray dog. If Sterling was arrested as many times as had been why had he not had a situation go that bad before ? Put yourself in his shoes for a minute and see how you would react after the cops show up and immediately put a gun to your head and tell you they are gonna kill you. You see the life leave his body still confused as to why this is happening. Probably never dawned on him it was because he got rid a nuisance around a store he was set up in front of More importantly what homeless guy has a cell phone ?
Next time I’m at a gas station and there’s a homeless dude asking for money I’m just going to point my gun at him since that’s apparently alright now. And when the cops show up I’ll resist them because I’m a hero in my mind. You probably won’t hear my story on the news though because I’m white and in the act of committing a crime, and white people don’t throw tantrums when people pay the penalty for breaking the law and not listening to law enforcement.

What’s your line of work, may I ask?

The idea that Lake was there by himself I think is wrong, Salamoni I'm sure was there just not in the frame the entire time. Salamoni saw and heard Sterling not comply.
I also would not doubt for a second this wasn't their first time running into Sterling. Street cops like them know these thugs.
I'm not saying this changes anything, I agree Salamoni was rough there and deserves punishment.
But what did he do? He tackled a guy. The idea that Salamoni escalated the situation is simply wrong imo. You have to listen to police. Sterling didn't listen multiple times including having a gun on him. What makes anyone think this was going to end in anything but Sterling getting shot?

I certainly could be wrong but the videos make it look like Blaine got there after Howie. I agree with everything else tho

Is Sterling pulling the gun on the homeless guy on the security footage? I'm not watching 20 minutes.

What was he selling on that table.
CD thing was a cover.
He was definitely selling drugs as evidenced by the store security video.
A drug transaction is clear at at least one point.

Well, you are a guy that trolls a college message board for chicks right after their child is born so I doubt many care about your opinion

I have a hard time believing any cop would shop up on scene to a call for a gun by themselves. But I could be wrong. Officer safety is almost always first over arriving sooner.

This
I'm willing to bet they've had run ins with him before and went in knowing he was armed. Should salamoni have gone hero mode and tackled him? Probably not but I haven't been in that situation before

It’s could be said that letting someone know from the jump start that they will be shot if they don’t comply could stop any bullshite before it starts. I know it would work on me
1. I’m glad to boys in blue went home to their families.
2. BS did go in there hot as frick.
3. I knew Alton was selling CD’s but damn I didn’t know he just set up shop with a full table and everything. I thought he was slanging a few CD’s from his cargo shorts or something.
