Saban has been involved in Real Estate investments in BR
since Perkins Rowe was nothing but raw undeveloped land.

I’m a lifelong LSU fan but that’s a little much. You wouldn’t be saying a word about that if he was still here and winning titles .

Why do you care? Apparently you commuted to Southeastern.

I appreciate Saban. He woke up a sleeping giant and started us on a 20 year run. I just wish he'd have gone to coach at Texas or USC. I'm also glad he's old and should be nearing retirement

I want to agree with you I really do but I’ve read some convincing data recently that says Tuscaloosa is actually underserved compared to most college towns in regards to student housing supply.

I think the things around campus will continue to stay full (inside “the Box”) but I worry about anything east of McFarland. Most things far south of 15th are already seeing the pain (CEV is like 60% occupied). I think you’re seeing a very strange phenomena in Tuscaloosa caused by the old school Tuscaloosa families eventually giving up their strong hold of land around BDS. For a long time these families held on to multi million dollar pieces of land with a crappy apartment on it rather than sell for an extreme profit but rents in Tuscaloosa skyrocketed at a time when SH cap rates basically were in free fall. Land values were finally too enticing to hold out. They couldn’t build apartments in that town fast enough. Everything I’m familiar with around campus has stayed full (except the Hub because that property is a shite show). It is more than just Saban that’s powering that market right now honestly.

The thing is the highrises are more expensive gameday condos than student centered housing it seemed - weve already seen attendance dropping all over the place and if bama loses the "cool factor" (thank saban for that) I just see some people left holding the bag on some expensive real estate with as shrinking market. I guess lease them out to students, just not sure about student rents covering of nice condos.

Plus this are all just thoughts I was having visiting campus for the first time in 5 years and seeing how much it had changed so you probably have a better idea of what's going on than I do.

I don't think many people outside of Al would use that as a description for UA

I hope you’re right, but unfortunately i dont think so... Without looking it up, i think Saban is pushing 70- but he seems to be in better shape than most guys in their 50s... I cant see him retiring for the reason most people do- tired of working, wants to relax and sleep in, travel etc... If anything, i think he’s the type that would need a new challenge after surpassing The Bear at Bama.. the problem is that he’s already tested the NFL and learned his lesson the hard way, now he knows how good he has it and wont make that mistake again... Hope i’m wrong.

Same. I HATE that we have to play him every year but thank God we got him when we did and re-established LSU football to actually be a contender. No one can blame the man for taking the Miami job. Florida fans don't hate on Spurrier returning to it's own division when his NFL aspirations ended (yes, I realize he didn't have NEAR the success as Saban). I'll never understand why some people hate on Saban in Baton Rouge.

He's gonna flip that into a luxury upgrade for Tiger Plaza.
