Russian man dies after stadium roof collapses during demolition work

A worker is dead in the collapse of a sports arena slated for demolition in St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city. Drone video from the Fontanka news agency appeared to show the worker failing to get into a crane cradle as the sports complex begins to collapse on January 31. A second worker appears to be seen in the cradle and escaped alive. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said more workers could be trapped under the rubble and a search was under way

Looks like a Weirder was cutting a support beam. Bad mid-calculation on exactly how much force that support was holding.

Why was he so far from the basket? Apparently other workers were inside when the roof collapsed.

Geeeeebus. That was like a real life Bourne movie. How was he not tied off? Even if his boss didn’t tell him to tie off or the damn safety team, how the hell is he thinking that’s a good idea to be cutting a major support beam without being tied to something?
