You know the amount she brought in was technically decriminalized in Russia, right?

Since when did hashish get decriminalized because she was carrying the liquid form.

Told to by who? Let me guess...the media. Y'all are so predictable.

As I said, I would hope people would care about me if i found myself in a similar situation.

shite, I care more about those than griner. normal, non celebrity athletes wouldn't get the time of day for being arrested like this.

you have to be pretty fricking stupid as a high profile athlete to fly with drugs to a country hell bent on fighting the west at every junction.

unless you believe that she was bringing drugs in for the purpose of trafficking, which beggars belief.
Again, she brought an illegal substance into a country that was on poor political terms with her native country.

Accidentally or not, she performed the action.

Many other Americans have been imprisoned for similar situations.

None of you have given a single shite about them, so why do you give a shite here?

You cant bring drugs with you on international travel.

Not even into a legal US state or fully legal Canada.

I don't understand how someone can not understand this.

You are committing international drug trafficking. There are international treaties on this even.

Who cares if its legal there. Buy it there.

But Russia already has rules about transport for personal use or without purpose of sale, and Griner's sentence far exceeds those stipulations.

I wouldn't give a frick about you breaking a law in a different country anymore than you would me. One of us is being honest.

Griner has been playing in Russia in the off season for like 7 years. I would guess this wasn't her first time bringing weed into the country.

When white pro golfers joined a tour funded by Saudis they were labeled as the worst people on earth for stooping to take “blood money” - by the very people caterwauling about Griner’s mistreatment. Yet, she’s been taking money from Putin’s oligarch buddies for over half a decade and not a peep from these people about how morally bankrupt she is. Wonder why???

it's illegal, but to be fair she had .7 grams and the punishment for up to 2 grams is 15 days.

If she is ultimately released as part of some negotiated deal, I never want to hear the letter folks or the race folks bitching about their supposed lack of "privilege."

Umm, I give a shite when a foreign government imprisons US citizens unjustly, according to their own laws. Don't put your blasé attitude on me.

Don’t know.

Your Twitter account, Facebook, ESPN, whatever political blog you latch onto.

Take your pick.

So would I, but I am not in that position and I know no one would give two shits about me because I’m not a celebrity.

The United States government shouldn’t bend over backwards for a celebrity when it’s international policy would not cater to a normal American citizen in such a manner.

you think she'd be released because she's black and not because she's a fairly famous athlete?

Then you should be able to link to your defense of anyone else besides "her." Feel free to shut us up with proof.

Yea, I'd just keep downvoting without responding too. Clowns

You probably will, based on your posts here. You don't seem to understand what causes this stuff to happen.

I don't discriminate, hopefully you do your full time as well as she.

What? The key distinction in all the Russian articles about transportation is whether it was for sale or in amounts that are 'large-scale' with no particular definition given to 'large-scale.' What are you talking about?

Potato isn't mulling trading for her if she doesn't check off all the boxes she does.

So this is normal behavior for you, to have such personal angst when someone willingly breaks the law.
