The other poster inferred she purposely did it (play stupid games). Yes, she did it, and is guilty for it, but she didn't purposely do it.
Fine.

Accidentally bring a gun into China and get back to us.

It is legal in the USA.

Griner has been playing in Russia in the off season for like 7 years. I would guess this wasn't her first time bringing weed into the country.

As another poster stated, her situation is a political statement.

Your defense of her law breaking is that she got away with it in the past?

And even then, if what you claim is true that this is nothing but a political stunt, perhaps she should have thought better than to bring drugs into a country we have a tense relationship with at the time.

I don’t disagree, but she brought an illegal substance into a country that was on poor political terms with her native country.

Accidentally or not, she performed the action.

Many other Americans have been imprisoned for similar situations.

None of you have given a single shite about them, so why do you give a shite here?

Because if you ask Darrel Brooks, he didn't do anything purposefully too.

Yea but the difference is in that case, we know he didn't. The MSM told us all it was the vehicle that went sentient, not the actions of the driver that caused that.

Point to where I defended her in that statement. I was merely making a point.

She went to Russia under a Level 4 State Department travel advisory and was arrested before any green hairs started getting blue and yellow tats for The Ukraines

I doubt the customs agents in Moscow knew who the frick she was

Highlight those stories and maybe I will

If I found myself in a similar situation, I'd hope my family would be raising hell too- famous or not.

You know the amount she brought in was technically decriminalized in Russia, right?

Russia has probably been under a travel advisory since the Cold War

You cant bring drugs with you on international travel.

Not even into a legal US state or fully legal Canada.

I don't understand how someone can not understand this.

You are committing international drug trafficking. There are international treaties on this even.

Who cares if its legal there. Buy it there.

quote:

The U.S. State Department has moved Russia out of a list of countries to which “travel should be reconsidered” in an updated travel advisory published on Monday.

In January 2018, the State Department listed Russia as one of the most dangerous countries for travelers in a new four-tier advisory system, along with states including Sudan and Pakistan. The new system replaced the State Department's travel warnings and alerts and is based on seven risk factors including crime and unrest. Travelers to Level 1 countries are told to “Exercise Normal Precautions” while the Level 4 category means “Do Not Travel.”

Imagine reading this and still thinking bringing drugs into this country was a smart move.

According to Russia law itself, the transportation of drugs into the country results in

quote:

shall be punishable by a fine in the amount of up to 40 thousand roubles, or in the amount of the wage or salary, or any other income of the convicted person for a period of up to three months, or by corrective labour for a term of up to two years, or by deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years.

unless you believe that she was bringing drugs in for the purpose of trafficking, which beggars belief.
