You do realize the host nation owns these bases all over the ME bc we are considered guest. But its still a US operation base with a majority US troops.

Maybe you are in over your head.

It's an Afghan base and has been for a year now. Sorry, if facts bother you. Don't blame me, blame the guy who withdrew most of our troops, handed over all our bases and declared combat operations over...

you are thick as frick

All these bases are owned by the host nation. US and Nato troops still run them and are the majority at them.

In addition, the U.S. government regional platform for the east is at the base, staffed by civilians.

Does not change the fact the base is owned by the Afghan government. I've never said we don't have any forces left in country. What I've said is our leader has (1) slashed the number of troops there and (2) declared and end of combat operations. Our forces are reduced to support, advise, and train the Afghan force who is now doing all the fighting. And from what I've read, they're losing ground.

You are still being thick. Combat Operations are not over. We still run and operate the bases and conduct missions from them.

You are being naive if you think that is the only thing American troops are doing over there.

I'm not in Afghanistan. I can only go by what is reported by the people in charge. And they're saying it's over.

What exactly are they doing past advisory, training, and support? Link?

So air support... against a foe that has no air force or anti air assets to speak of. We launch air strikes in all sorts of places. Iraq, Syria, Yemen come to mind right off the top of my head. That's not stopped Obama from declaring both the Iraq & Afghanistan Wars as being over. One again, if you'ere going to get mad, get mad at the guy that made the declaration, not me.

But you said combat operations are over, clearly CAS in support of American troops on the ground and the Afghans is a combat mission.

Special Operations missions are still going on , the door kickers are still doing their jobs. The SF guys are still over there training the Afghans and getting into fire fights side by side with them. This isn't some super secret stuff.

Obama declared combat operations are over. Take it up with him.

I've never agreed with him on anything. You've been arguing with me for hours without realizing you and I probably agree far more on this than you'd think. I think his declaration is one of the most stupid and absurd things he's done since he took office. And considering the mountain of bad decisions he's made, that's saying something. What he's done is take away the needed strength, tools, and leadership to actually achieve anything in Afghanistan. Yeah we've still got a few guys and a few assets there now. But it's nothing more than a shadow of what is needed. And when it's all said and done, the Taliban will march right back in to Kabul and pick up where they left off. Just as Obama snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq, he's done the same in Afghanistan. I'd call him a worthless shite stain but that would be an insult to turds.

Darth, how do you think the world would react if/when the Russians begin combat ops there?

You two have been talking in circles. Saying the same thing and using different words and different viewpoints but still agreeing with each other no matter how hard you try to disagree
