six hundred foot long submarine
That is a lot of maintenance for a country notorious for poor maintenance.

A sub is a good weapon, however, with our current high tech fighter jets, no ship or missile is coming close to our carriers
The Russians and Chinese both have hypercavitation torpedoes that no fighter jet can reach. They also possess hypersonic missiles and ballistic antiship missiles.
Countermeasures for the missle threats are the AEGIS ABM systems and CIWS
I imagine the Navy has some form of anti-torpedo technology but I do not know for sure.

Now you have my interest. When were you in nuke school?
I don’t remember my A School class, but I know power school and prototype were 0404.

We can't and shouldn't get comfortable where we are, and going by those numbers it doesn't look like we are.
Some people on here bost about Russian military which is laughable. They were a bigger threat during the Cold War because of the Germans.

Nuke Waste here. Failed the RP final giving me 1798 total points when I needed 1800 to graduate. rerated to ET and sent to radio school. Killed all of my EM related courses but struggled with Thermo and RP.
EM "A" School 9652
Power School 9704

Class 9307 nuke school, in school 93-94. I was on staff at NPTU Charleston (MTS-626) from 94-97. Also an EM

I was an EM too. A decent amount of my fellow electricians that didn’t finish went the radio route.
Funny enough, I did fine in A school, but murdered Power School. Reactor Principles might’ve been my favorite class.
I ended up minoring in physics after the Navy because of it

God you guys are ancient.

I'm really not concerned about a "secret" sub that a random magazine seems to have all the specs for.

Officially known as Project-09852, the submarine was originally an Oscar II-class cruise missile submarine that the Russian government ran of funds to complete. The submarine hull sat unfinished until Moscow decided to complete it as a special mission submarine.

I don't have much faith that they will be able to run a new state of the art boat with all the new systems this boat is supposed to have.
The Russian procurement system actually works better than ours. Probably because they’re so much poorer, and it just has to be more efficient.
Look at the new hardware the Russian armed forces have received in the last couple of years though.

Shoigu’s state of the armed forces speech.
If they’re putting it into active duty, the systems work. The only limitation might be the number or specialists in the service. They have a shortage in some area due to budget cuts. But it’s just one boat.

Would likely only have to create a few "holes" in the net...….
Depending on the number of sensors a hole in the net isn't a problem. An array of sensors can be "steered" to compensate for that

Sub tracking isn’t like you see in the movies.
So true.
I wonder how prepared we are for a threat like this. In the days of glasnost and the fall of the Berlin the US eviscerated ASW funding. All of the money was moved to littoral warfare.

We know what is coming soon. The USS Trump, the biggest and greatest vessel to ever grace the seven seas.
