Russia has a little over 145 million people, despite having the most land.

36For some perspective, the combined population of the EU is about 447 million, with the UK having another 67 million.
The US and Canada together have over 370 million people.
Hell, Ukraine has 41 million. And there are plenty of other US-aligned nations with lots of people.
In other words, the population of all countries that openly oppose Russia is at least a billion people.
Somebody explain why they think they are such a badass who can make other countries bend to their will. And don’t say nukes. NATO has more, and Russia’s not using one anyway.

Then you can't have the discussion, because that is a major reason.
They may not even use their nukes, but they can sure sell to some shithole country that will use them.
Manpower isn't a huge factor in war anymore. Technological and technical competency, as well as economic factors, matter more than anything. I can't speak to the former because we hear such wildly different things, but in terms of the latter, US/NATO sanctions and pressure has pushed Russia towards a profitable relationship with China, India, and much of the Global South.

The fact is, they do possess considerable military might and technology, being a longtime superpower (albeit a shell of their former self). They have also proven to not bluff when it comes to acting, with a willingness to sacrifice staggeringly large numbers of their own people. Their national propaganda is on point as well.

You still need manpower competent enough to utilize technology on a consistent basis. Russia doesn’t have this because their generals lead from the front, lack an NCO corps like we have, and not enough technology around which results in poor functioning equipment

Historically Russia always sustains heavy losses in their first year or two if war. This now appears to be a long term war. I can’t see Russia using nukes on the territory they are wanting.
I thought maybe they’d have their shite together during the fall months but that never happened. I don’t see things really improving, however Ukraine will need to do a lot of nation rebuilding. Much like what happened to Afghanistan against Russia in the 80’s, I kinda see that happening as well.
