Seeing 4-5-6 cars running red lights - blatantly driving through after the light had changed

Even 10 years ago, I learned quickly after moving to Houston to look both ways after the light turns green

I live in pretty rural area, not many streetlights to begin with, but if it’s super late or early and I get a red light I’ll treat it like a four way stop and if nothing in any direction I’m going.

Yeah, see it all the time. Saw a blatant, full-red full-speed run thru just recently, and there was a damn cop AT THE LIGHT. I told my kids that this guy was about to get lit up. Nope, nada, nothing.

It's much more dangerous for someone to blow through a red light than to go 20 mph over the speed limit in wide open areas where everyone else is speeding, yet people usually only ever get pulled over for speeding tickets.

Completely agree. If you are just cruising along, modern roads, tires, and cars in general are capable of doing 80-90mph no problem. If you could eliminate the self-appointed speed controllers and checkerboard driving, imagine how nicely interstates could operate. Left Lane Lurkers should lose points on their license. States said they would start enforcing this, but I have never seen it.

Yellow light means speed up

Red, however, does not mean speed up.

I just moved here and it’s definitely worse here in HTX than anywhere I’ve lived in LA

What driving laws does anyone follow anymore? The interstate is like an Indy 500. Cars doing 100 mph, switching across 3-4 lanes with no signals, switching lanes with 2 foot of extra space between cars, approaching others cars at 100 mph and never braking until 10 foot from the next car, etc. Driving like a nut with fog and rain during early morning. People have lost their minds.

People just sit at the light playing on their phone when it turns green so you have to run the light or have to sit thru another cycle because dumbasses dont pay attention.

Ita definitely gotten worse here in Lexington. It's to the point I double look and wait a second at a green light to make sure some jackass isn't gonna come barreling through and side swipe me.
