A friend of mine from Jesuit told me that the reason Jesuit has so many NMS is due to an afterschool "class" that they offer specifically designed to teach the PSAT. Apparently, it's a school year long course.
That friend is full of it

This was back in the 80's. He even gave me the name of the Brother who taught the course. He told me that he took the course. He's relatively intelligent, but no genius and he was a NMS.

Rummel's image is hurt by the guys who were playground legends and now only work as plumbers and on grounds crews. The succesful Rummel alumni make a big effort to not associate themselves with these types and thus it appears they are bashing the school. Meanwhile the grounds crew all star Rummel alumni team is posting all over Facebook about that state title.

Right to the heart of the matter. Social climbing, image conscious women driving Catholic education in the city.

ETA: I know, I know. It's just a message board. But we're discussing education here, so I feel warranted in asking.

Well I can safely say they haven't done it since at least 1998. Or I didn't get invited to it
And I missed being a NMS by one stupid point on the PSAT. A class probably would have got me that

Legit excuse, I suppose I'll allow it

Its not difficult to see the pattern with Rummel alums. The successful alums who do well financially send there kids to st catherine and then on to cbs . They then get a steady barrage of how great Jesuit is and the pity look when they say they went to Rummel . The wives dont wasnt to see theyre kids as "second class" and presto Junior ends up on Banks instead of Severn .
and that's why the wife and I didn't send our kids to St Catherine, it's known as the "keeping up with the Joneses school". If you don't fit in with their cliquish ways, you're looked down upon...
Had many people who took their kids out of St Catherine tell us that...

I don't know if that's true but I had heard something similar. There's nothing wrong with it if they do.

The alums that went through school there and then choose to not send their kids there. Gee I don't know why their opinions might have some merit.
So that means Rummel is a shitty school? Because Alumni may or may not send their own kids their? That's ridiculous. The perception of the school is bad, and people believe it for whatever reason.
Like a Jesuit, or Brother Martin, or Holy Cross grad have any idea of what it's like at Rummel, and vice versa.

My inlaws are both teachers (not OT ballers) with a kid there, and they have no issues fitting in. I live less than a mile away and go to many functions there, and I wouldn't say it is any worse than any other catholic school in regards to flaunting money.

Did I say that?

Thank goodness I didn't say that.

Maybe because it is bad compared to several alternatives according to people that went there? Why do you get to discount the negative opinions of people that went there?

What does this have to do in regard to what we're talking about?

Well the parochial vicor (sp) is a Rummel Alum (very pro Rummel alum at that) so we are in the progress of taking St. Catherine back.
Posted on 2/25/15 at 11:30 am to Lester Earl
Cut off was 210, I scored 209. Not really a big deal considering we had an absurd number of NMS for my class.
