So Trader Joe’s a few blocks down, old mathernes at kenilworth, Albertsons a few blocks down college, Winn Dixie and wal mart neighborhood market a mile or two down Lee, fresh market/old Mathernes on Perkins and bluebonnet, maxwells around the corner, Whole Foods not far... yep, money well spent... so at least 8 grocery stores less than 5 miles

Is he building condos on that other acre? I read where they are building 149 residential units. There’s no way you can stack 149 apartments on one acre.

They have that huge apartment development just down Perkins not two blocks. Where do all these expensive apartment dwellers come from and how long before Section 8 starts?

The big issue for a big chain is distribution.
I would love an HEB so I can get some lone star beer.
That would be a big step for them coming this far away from their distribution centers.
Rouses, Fresh market, or even small Wal mart neighborhood market sounds more realistic.

Meanwhile, in NBR you can hear the crickets chirp between gun shots if you pass by all the vacant retail grocery stores buildings.

He would likely mitigate that stroke risk by buying more fresh fruits and vegetables from one of North Baton Rouge's grocery stores.

Sprouts it is! (great news in my opinion)

Business report article

quote:

The Phoenix, Arizona company that operates Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. has signed a lease to open a grocery store in the planned Village Center at Rouzan. According to documents filed Jan. 3 with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court, SFM LLC signed a lease in October 2017 with Village Center Partners LLC, which is owned by Tommy Spinosa.

SFM is the trading symbol for Sprouts Farmers Market, which is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

Spinsoa is the original developer of Rouzan and still retains the four-acre parcel on which the supermarket will be developed. He recently sold the rest of the 100-acre Traditional Neighborhood Development to a team of investors led by John Engquist, Charles Landry and Todd Waguespack.

According to the court documents, Sprouts has signed a 15-year lease with Spinosa and will be the anchor tenant in the shopping center at the Village Center, which will comprise a portion of the commercial development at Rouzan.
