I have root. It’s ok, switched when State Farm jacked up my rates $60/month in two years after I was in an accident I didn’t cause. But the other person didn’t have any so I had to file uninsured motorist and they still jacked me up.

Root saves me $80/month but have gone up to $140/mo from the $100 it was when I stated 18 months ago. I keep expressing my displeasure, but I don’t think I’ll be able to find cheaper and they know it.

If they offer cheaper for a couple of years I would take it, it is ridiculous to pay $200 a month when I have 1 car and no accidents or tickets

You should be carrying more UM, it’s super cheap to increase your limits if you’re already carrying 100/300 BI limits.

Louisiana. That's the problem.

I'm in Texas. We have tort reform here. We don't see hundreds of billboards for personal injury attorneys. That's why your rates have gone up. Risk is greater there for the insurance companies there.

Root Car Insurance

I had never heard of Root and was skeptical when a girl hit my 16 year old son on Siegen Lane. I have to say that they were very fast in processing the claim and I was able to get the work done for less than the check that they sent me to fix his car.

Currently with Progressive

However I'm up to 203 a month with the latest quote/renewal. Like I said I haven't had a ticket in 10 years or and accident in 10. So my original quote included both but my newest quote should not.

That ticket/accident you was a careless operation as I lost control on a wet road from speeding and ended up in a ditch.

I'm an agent for a different carrier so trust me that I'm not knighting for Progressive BUT car insurance has been perpetually costing carriers money for years. The rate is not a lifetime guaranteed figure. Over time it will almost always rise based off the previous year's loss ratio and those have increased due to higher payouts on claims...pricier cars on the road, costlier to fix with all the gadgets on cars, distracted driving, and medical costs rising.

I'm not trying to say you shouldn't go shopping at some point either BUT your driving record is one of many considerations and before you say that you shouldn't have to pay for others' issues... you're always only a split second bad move from having a major accident and enormous payout. That has to be factored into the equation as well.

Look, the insurance carriers' aim like any business is to make profits. They are smart enough to understand that by gouging customers, that's a quick way to lose money in the big picture...by the same token they can't perpetally lose money without adjusting rates(by the way this has to be approved by your State Insurance Commission based off financial loss disclosures) so they have to walk a fine line and are not picking on you.

Hope this explains some of what you are seeing in your premium increases.

Insurance companies are losing at the track these days. This is why your rates have gone up.

rates increased in Louisiana
this is the biggest lie fished out by insurance agencies.

I worked for one for a few months and we’d tell this to everyone that called griping about their rates. Then cold call someone and tell them that rates have dropped. It’s all made up bullshite.

that always used to make me laugh in my head when our insureds would tell me that. Like that’s exactly how insurance works. That money to fix things has to come from somewhere

Just left Liberty Mutual after they increased our rates on a 2 vehicle policy

Been with them 3 years and rates have not gone up even though my wife had an at fault accident. Every year I check all the majors and they have them beat.

I am 54 with two cars covered. Their rates for my 30 yo son were higher than most.

Companies have specific rates for specific age groups, liability groups, geographic areas...

Just because company A is cheaper for one, does not mean they are cheaper for everyone. Price check every year!

Exactly, as if the companies pull the funds out of thin air for the repairs...it reminds me of folks who want to stick it to companies for corporate taxes. There's no such a thing, those taxes get passed right to the consumer. It would help to have some basic economics taught in school!

Got my quote, was $120 lower for state minimums, however, once I adjusted to get the same coverage I have now it was only $30 difference and when I adjusted for the coverage I wanted it became more expensive. I was a 10/10 on their driving app indicator for driving adjustment and while they did beat my current provider it was less coverage.

I didn't go with them as I read too many reviews of people who saw $60+ a month increases after 6 months.
