That could take a decade or more. Not to mention the barriers to entry in the smartphone market are massive. Amazon and Microsoft couldn't figure it out.

The capital costs for such a thing are astronomical, and unlikely to be touched by any major financier.
I think the better course of action in the advent of widespread censorship is to know your neighbors well. Phones get deposited at the door.
