One authorized dealer that I do business with only calls clients when they receive any. They are bought immediately. I was in the market for a watch and asked for the GMT Master 2. About three months later he called me that he just received one, but I already went with an Omega instead. I was expecting a 2 year wait.

Just be chummy with the retailer and they will hook you up.

I know 2 tones aren’t super popular but I got mine in a week which is still surprising. I’m going to check in later this week to the AD for questions and see if I can put myself on the list for a Daytona. The black white seems to be insane so prob will focus on all white since my sub is black dial

Yeah I just can’t spend more than about 6k to 8k on a watch. I like them a lot but I’d rather buy other shite.

The Grey Market at 2x and 3x times retail is slowing down. Pieces at MSRP from an AD is not slowing down. Every Rolex my AD gets is basically pre sold and never hits the case as they have buyers lined up for years (even for the TT Datejust 41’s)

Secondary market has slowed significantly and I expect that to keep happening. There is absolutely no slow down at MSRP.

I was lucky enough to be able to buy my two tone sub (black dial) at the local AD this past month but see the market slowing down. For those with more established relationships, does this mean I can likely get a second one sooner?

You are very unlikely to score a SS Daytona with that simple of a purchase history, but depending upon size of the town you're in and dealer clientele, you could well have a good chance to probably score other sought after SS sports models including even GMT Master II. Buying Rolexes from ADs at retail is a no-brainer if you the have disposable liquid assets to do it. They are like cash, and even though you aren't gonna get crazy high prices like a Grey dealer is gonna get, you can make money. I would just be careful if you are really into watches, not to give your AD the impression you are a flipper - and I don't get that from the way you asked the question in the OP. My point is that if you should need to get out of one, its easy to do at a profit. The "down-turn" in the secondary marked may have corrected a bit, but far from anyone biuying retail taking a loss.

Was always a watch guy growing up so I purchased a second hand Rolex Datejust SS/white dial in my mid 20’s. I think it was around $4,000 or so then, maybe less. I love it..great with a suit or dressed down. Will never buy another watch. I very much appreciate the higher end watches but could never part with the kind of cash it’d take to get a Submariner or something of the like.

I work at the bank and I notice watches. There is some truth to the submariner being owned by poors. Of course, they are not poor, but they are the crowd with much lower income than you would expect for their spending. A lot of people who barely crack 100k.

I can believe it. There’s no way I could spend that kind of money on a watch. Like I said, I do appreciate them but throwing that kind of money at a watch will never be my thing.

I financed my Rolex, son. 72 months, might pay off early with $8 natgas.

I love my Submariner (no date, SS, all black). Goes with absolutely everything and is not too flashy. Wear it almost daily. It just looks and feels right to me. Highly recommend if you can get one through an AD because the Grey market prices are insane.

Daytona in SS (black face) is a solid choice as well.

I have a friend whose dad left him his no date sub after he passed. He has several upper end watches north of $40K and wears his dads sub more than any other one.

You’re a dumbass and using a very small sample as your basis.

Judgy much? Ever hear of gifts or bonuses from work? I know guys that make $60k that wear rolex because they received them after milestones of service with their company. I was wearing a brand new Sea Dweller at 23 because it was a gift for college graduation. Cost a whopping $3k in 1996 lol.

That is one of the least desirable models. You either want a stainless steel model or gold.

the secondary craze is dying for sure, like many said, they are still moving instantly at MSRP from the ADs
