Shreveport/Bossier always had great nightlife
Ehhh...
The new owners at the Cub are running it into the ground. $3.50 beers, and they've hired a bunch of ex strippers. They totally missed the point of it being an after work watering hole, that got younger through the night. Always had a good weekend crowd.
Now it's just dudes, 1/2 of which I'm certain are illegals, sitting at the bar eye banging the bar tenders as they bend over to get something.
It's a travesty.

It really is, I went last weekend and stayed for maybe 30 minutes then left. It was horrible.

Damn, this I hate to hear. I hated the years I had to live up there but I did enjoy the Cub. Had a NOLA buddy come up for a weekend and I took him there for a Friday Happy Hour. It was the regular crew of old dudes pounding down drinks at the bar. By 7, every one of those guys was just shite-faced. My buddy commented, "Damn, no casual drinkers around here."

The downturn started in the 90's when the Casinos came in. It really hurt traditional night spots.

But at one point did they used to have live music? Seems like that would help them out a whole lot if they did.
70's and 80's had live music. Not sure past that, I left the area in 94.

It's so moronic for them to not have music there. That's a perfect place for up and coming guys to play. There's this place called the stage a few miles down hwy 80 that is constantly pulling in good artists and I know somewhere that's got a pretty big history in S-B like Rockin Rodeo could get some good artists too.

they used to get some pretty good music and shows, Sam Kennison was there a couple of days before he was killed, I saw Edgar Winter, Three Dog Night, and a few other of the older bands there

I talked to him today. He is giving up the late night business and buying a second cart for lunch. He said, he's tired of the late night shenanigans.

Thanks for the update, I don't blame him. Where does he setup for lunch now?

Corner of Edwards and Texas St., right across from the Chase high rise building.
I eat a chili dog for lunch about once a week. Loaded chili dog, chips and a drink for $6.

Phoenix and Rockin Rodeo both weren't fun at all. Sandbar sucks now too. Chicago is the only decent place to go nowadays. And even that is hit or miss.

I got ktfo in the parking lot there 20 years ago. Never saw it coming. Ended up being a 20 some odd baw brawl. I whipped a guys arse to nothing and his friend jumped on my back and slammed my head on the parking lot. Lights out. Then 15 of my buddies went to work. I walked away with a bad concussion while many others were arrested.
