Saw the earlier thread about the vacuums. What are the TD’s thoughts and experiences? To save time on comments, yes I’m overweight, lazy and hate hot, humid summers. Thanx in advance!!

Just hope it doesn't run over a pile of dog shite.

I would imagine they're only worth a shite if you have a very flat, plain lawn. I barely trust myself on a slope, let alone something with less processing power than a 10 year old phone.

Dude has one near us. He has it out mowing the yard on Saturday morning at 5AM. For some reason, it has a headlight on it. Freaks me out seeing this little robot driving around cutting the grass. Yard looks great.

I have one for part of my lawn, the rest has to be done manually. It was a gift.
The good news is, I don't have to be there for the unit to do it's job.

Sorry, my yard is four acres, not 2000 sq ft.

I'm sure the mower would be great, but if you're lazy then I doubt you would take care of it and it would be a waste of money.
Just pay somebody to mow your lawn.

LSU Engineering students are required to complete a "Capstone" project to graduate. They break the seniors into teams and they are given a project they must successfully complete to graduate.
Several years back, one of the teams was assigned an Autonomous Lawnmower project. They built the thing and presented video of it flawlessly mowing a lawn at their final presentation. Everyone applauded and they got A's and went on to their careers. The robot, along with all the other projects, sits on display in the Engineering Annex. Some years later another group had a similar project and decided to use the prior teams robot as a starting point. They tried to get it to work and couldn't. They contacted one of the former team members to ask about programming it.
The guy informed them that they could never get the thing to work so they installed a remote control receiver and had a team member stand off screen during the video and drive it around via remote. Completely fooled the entire faculty. No one ever looked under the hood at the computer module to determine if it functioned.

Better have good insurance when that thing goes rogue.

Couldn't help but think: Can something that small really be measured in square acres? But the 45 degree down slope backyard will wear my butt out cutting it. Glad it's not any larger after all.

I know a young nerdy adult who owns two and he loves them. Says they cut frequently but only will when it's sensors know the ground / grass moisture is right and if it starts to rain they head for home.

They been in Europe for years.
Europe is a huge robotic market.
US it will take time to catch on.
Setup
Put wires in ground as it outlines area it will cover.
Covers x amount of ground in a certain time.
No it will not cut most lawns every night.
Just covers a sections.
When done for the evening it goes to the docking station.
