Not sure about his point, however I do wish he would post his address as he believes filing a report is the solution for theft.

Well I may not but when he let the threat leave and pursued he opened himself up to being charged. Now if he shoots and kills him in the building whole different story. Now will he be charged? Probably not.

See, this is the problem with concealed carry classes. People take them and then think they know the law and how it applies in every circumstance. You did know learn the intricacies of the law in your 3hr class. Which leads to instructors having to layout guidelines like "you can't pursue a criminal and shoot him."

That's simply not true. Most of the time, and in Louisiana, that statement is true. Let's say, for instance, this guy had just received a text from his wife that she was about to pull into the parking lot. He has every right to follow the guy into the parking lot and use deadly force if he has a reasonable fear for the safety of his wife, family, or anyone else.

Even if Louisiana doesn't adopt this, he still has a decent defense under these facts (though they are relatively limited), a very winnable defense.

My point is that I don't trust my "peers" to apply common sense when applying a poorly written law.

Juries are typically filled with idiots.

What is your experience with juries? You a trial attorney? Judge? Court reporter?

Or just served on a jury one time and feel qualified to judge the adequacy of all juries?

Sitting at the table across from them. Reading their questions. Seeing who gets picked. Post-trial interviews.

Never know who's at a Diner and that they might not be in a "transitional" period.

The Texas law also allowed a man to shoot and kill a hooker who was entering her car after she took his money but refused to actually have sex with him.

Obviously many on here disagree, but I'd prefer deadly force be reserved for life threatening situations.

ETA: The OP is fine by me, I'm talking about the law in general.

If you feel impending grave danger to anyone else you may use deadly force.
