Do you own Riverside or some other POS towing company?

Turned out the neighborhood owned the driveways and homeowners just owned the houses.

I would like to hear more about this. Where did this happen?

That's bullshite. May have been a long time ago but I'm pissed off for you.

A tow company can file for title of the vehicle in LA after so many days of unpaid storage to recoup expenses.

Sucks for him, but there are really no legal routes if the tow was justified.

Now, they could have not been dicks and gave him his vehicle back since he was deployed at the time.

That's kind of my thing. If it was an honest mistake and he could show he was deployed then give the guy a break.

People only have sympathy for military members in non military towns. In big military cities it's just another business opportunity.

My buddy owned the house, and I had his permission to store my vehicle in his driveway.
It wasn't illegally stored but I guess the neighborhood had the right to tow the vehicle if they wanted to for some reason. it was just sitting in the driveway though, it wasn't an eye sore or parked in the street or anything.
They didn't even contact my buddy (they might have tried I guess) to simply ask about it or give an opportunity to move it.

My buddy didn't know until this happened that the property he owned didn't include the driveway.

when I researched the tow company they had a lawsuit against them a few years before for doing the same thing to multiple military members. It seems like they looked for this kind of thing.

This board feels the same way about riverside towing as BLM feels about police. Interesting.

frick Riverside. I've had experiences with them twice:

1) I was taking a summer class a few years ago and decided I was going to take a study break and go grab some food. I parked right in front of Pita Pit, ordered my pita and placed it in my ride.

Instead of ordering a bag of chips, I decided I was going to try out the fries at Five Guys because at that point they had just opened. I walked across the street, made my order and came out to my damn ride being towed. Along with my backpack and phone.

2) I was in an apartment complex for a semi-formal pregame. Prior to my arrival, my date told me to park in the visitor section which I did.

I'm notorious for losing shite when I'm drunk so I decided I'd hide my keys on top of my tire. Well when I came back my vehicle had been towed and my keys were no where to be found.

Replacing my key was actually more than the tow charge. frick those smart chips

Does saying "We are not responsible for any damage we do to your vehicle" negate their responsibility when one of their slugs breaks a window, damages a spoiler, etc.?

I lived in Aspen Heights now Uclub Cottages and Riverside would tow you so damn fast there. I lived there and had for 2 years when my car got towed. I had a rental because I had wrecked my car a few weeks earlier. I had a note from uclub in my dash that said it was a temporary tag. The tage expired 1/4 and they towed me the night of 1/5. I called Uclub to see if they would pay for it and they said no I should have come in the office to get a new one. I work 8-5 that day and went to the gym after. Didnt get home till around 6:30 and the office closes at 6. Pissed me off so bad. Then had to pay around $200 and get proof that it was my rental to show the devilish a-hole dyke woman who runs that shithole called Riverside. I am sure many of you have had a similar experience.

"Here you go universe; watch these for me, will ya?"

Sorry, but it really amuses me you trusted the top of your tire above keeping them in your pocket, and you made the decision in anticipation of being drunk.
