If you want to be an underwriter or actuary, then it’s a good field. I’ve seen a positive job forecasts for both fields, but it’s somewhat confusing because a lot of underwriting is moving to computer underwriting. If you’re interested in the actuarial side, get a minor in statistics or mathematics also.

If you’re interested in the retail side of insurance, focus on sales or marketing.

I know ULM’s risk management and insurance degree program is top 5-10 in the nation. Not many schools offer the degree though.

Top rated school is UGA, followed by Temple

UGA is a very good program. Ole miss has a great program and Florida state does as well.

One of my degrees from Ole Miss was Risk management and insurance. It was a great introduction to insurance and geared more towards commercial risks and the underwriting aspect. The whole course is essentially based of the CPCU designation.

Depending on the financesif my choices were Oxford, Athens, Tallahassee, or Monroe I know which one I'd eliminate first.

My friend Reuben Feffer had an excellent career in risk management and life insurance assessing. I suggest staying away from scuba diving on the honeymoon though.

That’s the problem. Oxford, Athens, and Tallahassee are not financially possible for me. Would love to go to school in Athens but don’t know how that’d be possible for me

My sister graduated from Ole Miss with that degree and it worked out well for her. She interned in Scottsdale and London during college and worked in Philadelphia right out of college and then moved to NYC to work for a large firm there. She got to go to the CMA’s and worked on broadway plays and music videos. She loved it
