He refused to say “po-boy” and always went out of his way to say “poor boy.”
He even said "poor-boy" during his Parran's Po-Boy commercials when the restaurant was clearly called "po-boys".

Well my experience absolutely stunk. I'm from. NOLA and the place is garbage.

You call that living?
The only radio show I’ve ever called into. I had to report when Cassamentos relented to the times and added char grilled oysters to the menu.

I called in too. Topic was great American food. I recommended the hot dogs from zephyr field. He was unimpressed and quickly thanked me and hung up.

I found him to be a bit of a snob.
His abject horror when a caller described eating at Panda Express

Always got a kick out of how far into the year he could get his listeners to say "Happy New Year!".

A true New Orleans radio god. Along with WTIX Michael in the morning. Legendary old school talent with nostalgic play ins.

It may have been written “poor boys”, but I seriously doubt those guys handing them out said it that way. It’s just not how we talk. It may be lost in our history now, but I can hear them saying, “Another PO’BOY!”

Moved to the north shore shortly after Katrina for work. I thought of Nola as bourbon street. I listened to him on the big 870 everyday. He showed and told me NOLA was so much more. Times were good in the city when he was on the air. RIP
