Best songwriter ever.

Top-5.

McCartney holds that title.

Kris was not a good singer. I think even he admitted that.

He did. He had reservations about joining the Highwaymen because he didn't think he was vocally on the level of the others.

Flew helicopters in the GOM. My 90 year old pal ran across him offshore.

I have an eclectic taste in music; country isn’t one of my faves but that song is just about as perfect as a song can get.

Story of “why me lord”

Went to church with a friend, had a religious experience, and wrote, arguably, Top 100 song of all time.

Why me lord

"Here comes that rainbow again" is a great one. He wrote it after seeing a scene from The Grapes of Wrath.
Johnny Cash said it was one of his favorite songs.

[Verse 1]
I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountain in the skies
Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies
Turning on the world the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying
Healing as the colors in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes

My favorite opening lyrics to a song.

Waylon's version of "Lovin' Her was Easier" is one of my favorite songs.

But dreaming was as easy
As believing it was never gonna end
Loving her was easier
Than anything I’ll ever do again.

And that one is followed closely by Willoe doing "Help me Make it Through the Night".

Not a lot of people know that. My father flew with him several times offshore.

He was the janitor at A&M Records to help break into the music business.

Now he may simply be a single drop of rain

But he will remain

He'll be back again, and again...

Sad day. Listening & watching the Highwaymen live in concert on YouTube always puts me in a better place.

All Legends in their own right & something even more magical together. RIP Kris.

My husband flew with him too, way before I knew him.
