Real surprise is that he lived to 88 with as hard a life as he lived.

He’s been sober since the late 70s, before Waylon even; but yeah his liver must have been made of leather back then

Crazy that he was a helicopter pilot in Lafayette flying baws to and from the rigs offshore.

He flew for PHI and once to get his attention, borrowed a bird from somewhere in Nashville and landed in Johnny Cash’s back yard to bring him a song he thought Cash should use. Johnny became a lifelong friend.

R.I.P. to one of the authentic, humble and genuine greats.

Best songwriter ever. Sunday Morning Coming Down, Me and Bobby McGee, Why Me Lord. An amazing talent. Hoping he's writing songs now for God in heaven, and teaching Angels how to sing.

Well, that sucks. He was one of the good ones. Hate to see him go on in. Great singer and even greater songwriter. Very few like him.

Like Dylan, good songwriter, terrible singer.

Ummm... what? Better songwriter than Dylan and to say he was a terrible singer is just a terrible, terrible take.
