Same

I’d wear his greatest hits cassette out in my dad’s huge tape box any road trip or on a boat I’d make him play it.

Missed him at jazz fest the last few times figuring he’d come around again soon enough and I’d catch it then

I’m kind of shocked. Saw him last year in Austin for the 7th or 8th time. He was still going strong.

Saw him the first time at the Worlds Fair in New Orleans and Randy Meisner from the Eagles played with him and his band. Now both are gone.

Best show I ever saw him at was at Tipitina’s in the early ‘90’s. We used to get Tip’s calendar in the mail and keep it on our fridge. I noticed one band called Freddy and the Fishsticks was playing. Knowing that was the name of a short story in one of his books we showed up and got to see him. Thought I was clever and maybe figured out something that others hadn’t until we got there and the line was around the block.

Was lucky enough to see him play a few times. His music was the fabric of my kids lives.

Radio Margaritaville will be on all weekend.

I saw JB several times including at Lulu's after the Deepwater Horizon explosion. He was scheduled to have a free beach show but due to a hurricane they postponed it. The bride and I decided to head to Lulu's for supper and he showed up, I was about 5 feet from him when he rolled off the boat, good times they were.

Seems strange. No independent confirmation as yet. The inference is it was not unexpected but there's been no indication that he was ill prior to this.

He had a concert planned here in the Charleston area several months ago.

As all of his shows do, it sold out in just a couple of minutes. I missed out on tickets.

Show wound up cancelled, he announced he would reschedule. He’d been hospitalized, I believe in Boston, with an urgent medical condition. Reading that statement put out, gives me the impression he had cancer.

He saw several of his shows, all were great. He spent a lot of time over the years in Charleston, hanging out incognito. Ran into him one night 30+ years ago, I’d walked into a little bar called Cumberlands, the band playing took a break so he grabbed a guitar and just had some fun with probably no more than 20 customers.

Fair winds and following seas….it’s five o’clock somewhere…at one particular harbor…

Jimmy had a huge impact on my life.
Seen him perform no less than 12 times.
From the keys to Nola, dude lived it up.
Bob Dylan once remarked Jimmy was one of his fave American songwriters.
Jimmy and Hunter S Thompson spent a year together in the keys after HST’s first divorce, though few stories have come out about their time together (imagine trying to party with them…not for the faint of heart).
Pirate looks at 40 was about a bartender at Sloppy Joe’s.
He went to Paris was about a one armed pianist from Chicago Jimmy met up there.
To this day, when you call my insurance agency, “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” will play when we put you on hold.

Lot of parrot heads gonna have a long day today.

Add in week one football, and it’s a good thing they have an extra day this weekend to recover.

Hustling the senoritas
While they dance beneath the stars

thanks for being there Jimmy...RIP brother...

Went to one of his concerts in Chicago years ago. The tailgating was amazing and one of the best times of my life. As a bonus, there were lots of women showing their titties!

Not the Buff!!!!!! A truly sad day for the music world and for the legions of fans that followed him and attend his concerts.

What a profound loss. A true entertainer.

After my Gutter Shark days, I played in a band called Big Sun with my buddy Joe Tullos, who was also in the Gutter Sharks. We were playing Jazz fest at the old Gibeau stage, when I was back stage setting up my stuff, I seem to recognize these two guys sitting at a table eating bbq ribs. Then I realize it’s Jimmy Buffet and Ed Bradley, they wanted to see the bad that was playing before us because of their name, Shot Down in Ecuador Jr,

Got to talk to them for a second, both nice as can be.
