re: RIP James Dobson -Founder of Focus on the Family

To be fair, protestants like James Dobson don't hate catholic people.
Protestants believe catholic doctrine to be false and leading people to hell with its false teaching. That's why Protestants are so adamant that catholics are wrong.

We are called to earnestly contend for the faith (Jude 1:3) so that is why protestants stand by their position on catholic teaching.

Also, Paul told the Galatians that if anyone preached a gospel other than the one Paul taught them that that person would be accursed. (Galatians 1:8-9)

The catholic church has all sorts of "traditions" that are not in the bible and they hold these traditions as being as authoritative as scripture. Protestants rely solely on scripture. The big issue for me is the addition of works to faith alone, but there are also other protestant denominations that add works to faith so they are also preaching a false doctrine.

I believe there are people in the catholic church who are saved, but its in spite of catholic doctrine. It's because they have believed in Jesus alone for everlasting life and they trusting in his finished work solely on their behalf. Personally I don't see how someone can be born again and not see the errors in the teaching of the catholic church, but that's me.

Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3) This applies to anyone, no matter what denomination he is

Oh, well thank goodness you believe that. You are exactly the type of person I'm talking about. I'm sure when we're all standing at the pearly gates, the Lord, not knowing what to do with us, will make sure to ask your opinion in the matter.

Every person I encounter with this anti-Catholic worldview is trying to convince themselves that they made the right choice. Our traditions are wrong, our interpretation of the Bible is wrong, and even our Bibles themselves are just...wrong. And like you're all selling Amway or Crossfit, you have to talk about it all the time.

So much judging us under the guise of making sure we know the "true" Christianity, and a shocking level of narcissism. Maybe focus on the log in your own eye and stop thinking about us so much.

If you read this entire thread, you would see different people attacking Mr Dobson and protestants in general regarding their hatred of catholics. I was responding to that to clarify that Protestants don't hate catholic people, but the catholic doctrine.

Narcissism is running around telling everyone you are the one true church and no one can find God on their own but you need the guidance of the "one true church."

But Catholics don't run around telling everyone that or trying to "save" them. That's my entire point. And I'm certainly not vain enough to think that God cares about my opinion on whether another person is going to heaven. I'm not running around telling people that they're wrong, and I'm right.

I have read the entire thread, and my original post was in response to a person who said that non-Catholics don't dislike Catholics.
