As some of you may know, Dr Shipka, Manship professor at LSU from 2007-2012, passed away last night.

He had Parkinson’s for the last five years.

He was a good friend and We played tennis together at LSU. Some of my best memories.

RIP to a good guy.

Any of you guys have some funny stories to share?

I smoked pot with Dr. Shipka. It was Danny Shipka and Troy Middleton, and they were blazing that shite up everyday.

My condolences on your loss. It is never easy losing a good friend.

I had to look up what a Manship professor is. That's the first time, that I recall, I've ever heard that.

Damn, he was one of my favorite professors at the Manship School. RIP

Eta: he actually had multiple system atrophy, which is like Parkinson’s, but much worse.

Yea. I had him my first semester at LSU for intro to mass media.

I took it as just a bullshite easy elective but he made the class fun and I learned a lot of cool shite from him.

I don’t really remember how we became tennis friends but we played every couple weeks my last couple years in Baton Rouge.

He always gave me shite for my politics but was always encouraging and believed in me more than myself.

My Facebook has been flooded with people remembering him. Had him for a PR class, and he's easily top 2 professors during my college years.

The world lost a brilliant mind.

He was a great professor. I bombed my last test before graduation. Saw him at my commencement and he said “wow what happened on the final!” in front of my entire family lol.

RIP

I had a good friend die of MSA. First diagnosed with Parkinson’s but his sister who is a doctor noticed he was degrading far quicker than someone with Parkinson’s and sent him to a specialist. Diagnosed with MSA with no way to treat. He was gone in less than two years.

Danny was a great guy. Kicked him on the tennis court. He will forever be missed at our tailgate.
